The Western North Regional Office of the National Health
Insurance Authority (NHIA) has set a new milestone by hosting its 2025 mid-year
performance review outside the regional capital, Sefwi Wiawso, for the very
first time.
The two-day event, held on August 21st and 22nd at the
Western Inn Hotel in the Sefwi Bodi District, brought together staff from the
regional office alongside representatives from all eight district offices.
Presentations were led by the Regional Operations Manager, Mr. Isaac Damptey,
with district managers also sharing updates from their respective areas. Discussions focused on key performance indicators such as
revenue mobilization, mobile renewals, indigent registration, and general
membership growth.
Addressing participants, Acting Regional Director, Mr. Frank
Duku, highlighted the importance of decentralizing such reviews. He explained
that moving the program beyond the regional capital promotes inclusivity,
empowers district offices, and creates space for deeper engagement with
stakeholders. According to him, this approach provides valuable ground-level
insights that strengthen collaboration and sharpen strategies for better
service delivery.
Mr. Duku commended the dedication of the district teams,
noting that the first half of 2025 recorded impressive progress. As of
mid-year, the region had achieved 514,603 active memberships — representing
53.6% of the regional population and 81.3% of its annual target. This
outstanding performance has placed Western North third on the national league
table for active membership.
Looking ahead, Mr. Duku expressed optimism and urged staff
to sustain their commitment. He emphasized that collective effort will push the
region to even greater heights and contribute significantly to Ghana’s journey
toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by 2030.
