Office complex for the operations of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has been inaugurated to serve residents in the Ga East Municipality.
The project funded by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) was masterminded by the Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya. Hon. Sarah Adwoa Sarfo.
Speaking at the official inauguration and handing over ceremony, the NHIA Chief Executive, Dr. Lydia Dsane-Selby disclosed that the framework was approved in 2018, largely attributed to the Dome Kwabenya Legislator’s efforts.
She urged residents of the area to get enrolled onto the Scheme as the Benefit Package has been expanded to cover Childhood Cancers and Family Planning.
She reminded the Scheme’s active members to continue using the short code *929# for their membership renewals.
She said the 'Waiver' for defaulting and newly registered members announced during the NHIS Week celebration has been extended to the end of December 2021
Dr. Selby emphasized the need for holders of the NHIS and Ghana cards to merge the two and use one card to access health care services.
She commended all NHIA staff for their hard work and commitment to duty. Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Lawyer Sarah Adwoa Sarfo lauded the office complex and encouraged her constituents to enroll onto the NHIS for better health care services.
"The NHIA office is an additional layer aside many other health projects my office has facilitated to demonstrate government’s commitment of providing access to health care in the Dome Kwabenya constituency."
She implored the NHIS district management team to zealously safeguard the office complex.
