Following the appointment of a new Chief Executive of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), a transition team led by Dr. Isaac Noble Morrison, a board member of the NHIA, today ushered in the new NHIA boss, Dr. DaCosta Aboagye.

At a brief meeting with Dr. Sylvester Oppong, also a board member, the Deputy CEO of Administration; Dr. Mrs. Yaa Pokuaa Baiden, Deputy CEO of Operations, Mrs. Louisa Atta Agyemang, Mr. Francis Owusu, Deputy CEO in charge of Finance and Investments directors and deputy directors of the various directorates within the Authority, Dr. Morrison reaffirmed the board and executive management’s commitment to ensuring a smooth transition.

He reiterated that with support from the Board, Management and staff, and with Dr. Aboagye’s vast knowledge and experience in the health sector, his reign as Chief Executive of the NHIA will be productive.

Dr. Aboagye, in his opening remarks, thanked staff for their warm embrace and pledged his commitment to contribute immensely to the continued growth and success of the NHIA.

He stated that just like every other institution he has been called upon to serve, he is poised to leave a legacy at the NHIA.

He further intimated that he would approach his new role with open-mindedness, tact, and professionalism to enhance the image and the standing of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Dr. Aboagye urged staff to openly share ideas to drive his vision to an impactful end.

Dr. DaCosta Aboagye prior to his appointment was the Director of Health Promotion at the Ghana Health Service.

He takes over from the outgoing CEO Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye who has been appointed as the Health Minister.
