NHIA staff undergo training on Promotive, Preventive, and Wellness Policy | 5/31/2024

Two hundred (200) staff of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) have acquired  comprehensive knowledge of Executive Management's new policy direction of Promotive, Preventive Health and Wellness, initiated by the Chief Executive Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye.

The first batch from the Ashanti, Western, Ahafo, Bono, Bono East, and the Upper West Regions converged in Kumasi for the exercise conducted by a team from the NHIA Administration and Human Resources Directorate.

The team lead was the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Mr. Raymond Avinu and other resource persons from the Chief Executive's Secretariat.

The primary objective of the sensitization exercise is to train staff to establish health and wellness units, the formation of wellness clubs, and corners within all NHIA offices to ensure routine medical checkups.

This policy direction is geared towards the attainment of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by the year 2030.

At the opening ceremony, the Ag. Director of Administration at the NHIA, Head Office, Mr. Raymond Avinu, who represented the Chief Executive, stated,  "The Chief Executive has demonstrated his commitment to staff wellbeing among others, hence the need for this orientation on promotive, preventive healthcare and wellness.

He disclosed Executive Management's desire to establish an insurance policy as a top-up to improve staff welfare.The NHIA Operations Director for the Middle Belt, Mr. Kwadwo Tweneboa Kodua said the NHIA prioritizes staff health and wellness, hence the need for all staff to also take their health and wellness seriously. 

Two resource persons from the Promotion and Prevention healthcare unit at the NHIA, Madam Augustina Nartey and Madam Renee  Opare Otoo, took the participants through Promotion and Preventive Care and stress management.
