NHIA staff acquire in depth knowledge of Promotive, Preventive Healthcare and Wellness | 6/1/2024

The first phase of staff orientation on the new policy direction of Promotive, Preventive Healthcare, and Wellness has ended in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital.

Some selected staff from the Southern and Northern enclaves acquired in-depth knowledge of the new policy direction initiated by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Chief Executive, Dr. Da-Costa-Aboagye.

The primary objective of the sensitization exercise is to train staff to establish health and wellness units, the formation of wellness clubs, and corners within all NHIA offices to ensure routine medical checkups.

The  new policy direction is geared towards the attainment of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by the year 2030.

The three-day exercise was supervised by the NHIA Director of Administration, Mr. Raymond Avinu. As the Chief Executive's representative, Mr. Avinu implored the participants to serve as worthy ambassadors of the new policy direction.

He said the NHIA Executive Management remains committed to improving staff welfare and increasing access to the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

"The Chief Executive has demonstrated his commitment to staff wellbeing among others, hence the need for this orientation on promotive, preventive healthcare and wellness."

Two resource persons from the Promotion and Prevention healthcare  unit at the NHIA, Madam Augustina Nartey and Madam Renee  Opare Otoo, took the participants through Promotion and Preventive Care and stress management. The elated trained staff thanked the team for the comprehensive knowledge they acquired and promised to do the needful in their offices.
