The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), through its
Research, Policy, Monitoring and Evaluation (RPME) Directorate, has held a
two-day workshop to develop its 2026 Programme of Work (POW).
The event, which took place from November 3–4, 2025, in the
Ashanti Region, brought together 75 participants, including Regional Directors,
Regional Operations Officers, Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officers, Heads
of Directorates, and focal persons from various directorates at the Head
Office.
The sessions focused on collaboratively formulating the 2026
Programme of Work and strengthening institutional capacity for evidence-based
planning and efficient service delivery.
Delivering the opening remarks on behalf of the Deputy Chief
Executive (Operations), Dr. Kwesi Senanu Djokoto, the Acting Director for RPME,
Mr. Suleymana Abass, outlined the key objectives of the workshop.
These included reviewing the 2025 Programme of Work,
formulating the 2026 plan, and ensuring alignment with the National Development
Plan (NDP), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Universal Health
Coverage (UHC) agenda.
He reaffirmed NHIA’s commitment to achieving Universal
Health Coverage through innovation, collaboration, and data-driven
decision-making.
“Our focus for 2026 is clear — smarter systems, stronger
partnerships, and sustainable healthcare for all,” he added.
The Acting Ashanti Regional Director, Mr Mohammed Miniru
Muntaka, in his welcome address, urged participants to remain focused and
contribute meaningfully to shaping the Authority’s strategic priorities for the
coming year.
Presentations were delivered by key NHIA officials,
including the Acting Deputy Director of Management Information System, Mr
Orison Afflu; the Senior Manager for Regional and District Accounting
Operations, Mr Eric Yeboah; and the Acting Senior Manager for M&E, Mrs
Rosemary Mensah-Anobah.
Their presentations highlighted strategies for strengthening
data management, improving ICT systems, enhancing staff capacity, and boosting
financial planning and coordination.
