NHIA Intensifies Transformational Reforms as Volta and Oti Regional Staff Undergo Trainer of Trainers Sensitization | 11/28/2025

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has advanced its nationwide efforts to prepare staff for the implementation of key transformational reforms, with a successful Trainer-of-Trainers Sensitization Workshop held for personnel from the Volta and Oti Regions.

As part of the Authority’s commitment to strengthening service delivery and ensuring seamless adoption of new operational systems, the Deputy Director for MIS, Mr. Joe Annor Darkwah , and the Acting Deputy Director for Branding and Marketing, Joyce Angela Asiedu, Esq., led the capacity-building session. They provided detailed briefings on the core elements of the reforms, particularly the digital platforms that will anchor the NHIA’s next phase of modernization.

During the workshop, staff received comprehensive orientation on major innovations being introduced by the Authority, including the E-Pharmacy platform, the Biometric Membership Authentication System (BMAS), and the cashless registration process. These interventions are designed to enhance efficiency, deepen transparency, and improve the overall experience of NHIS members across the country.

Participants were further updated on government’s renewed commitment to strengthening the Scheme following the uncapping of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). This policy has injected substantial additional resources into healthcare financing, enabling the Authority to fast-track critical reforms and strengthen operational capacity nationwide.

The sensitization workshop afforded staff the opportunity to build practical understanding, ask questions, and position themselves to effectively train district and regional teams within the Volta and Oti Regions.

This exercise forms part of the NHIA’s comprehensive nationwide strategy to ensure consistency, readiness, and efficiency in the rollout of its transformational reforms across all sixteen regions of Ghana.
