The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), through its
Brands and Marketing Unit of the Corporate Affairs Directorate in collaboration
with the Central Regional Office, has rolled out its “Festival Intrusion”
initiative during the Oguaa Fetu Festival in Cape Coast.
The initiative, designed to engage and educate the public
during major festivals nationwide, forms part of efforts to rebuild confidence
in the Scheme.
At this year’s event, the NHIA team joined the popular Orange
Friday Walk, sensitizing participants on auto-renewal subscriptions and
demonstrating how to register or renew NHIS cards using the MyNHIS App.
The Deputy Director for Marketing and Branding Ms. Angela Asiedu explained the rationale behind the intervention.
“The objective of participating in various festivals is to
make the NHIS brand resonate with all Ghanaians. Festivals provide a unique
opportunity to reach people at their doorsteps and gatherings, and the Festival
Intrusion is to help them better understand the NHIS brand,” she said.
The Acting Central Regional Director, Mr. Kojo Sekyere Koi
Thompson, stressed the significance of the initiative, noting that the Oguaa
Fetu Festival is one of the most vibrant in Ghana.
“It presents a good platform for the Scheme to increase
membership and disseminate NHIS information, particularly on the 929# short
code and the MyNHIS App,” he said.
Community members also commended the Authority’s outreach.
Daniel, a resident of Cape Coast, highlighted the festival’s Orange Friday
tradition and the benefits of the Scheme.
“The NHIS has helped me and my family in many ways. I
encourage everyone to keep an active card,” he advised.
Through the “Festival Intrusion” initiative, the NHIA seeks
to leverage cultural events to enhance brand visibility and expand membership
nationwide.
