NHIA Conducts Two Day MIS Training on New Biometric Authentication System | 12/26/2025

The Management Information Systems (MIS) Directorate of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has launched a two-day training programme for credentialed healthcare providers, starting December 22, 2025, in Accra.

The training is aimed at equipping NHIA-credentialed providers with practical skills and hands-on experience in using the newly introduced biometric authentication system. The initiative is designed to enhance understanding, efficiency, and accurate utilization of the system across healthcare facilities.

The training, supervised by the Director of MIS, Mr. Vitus Kaleo-Bioh, brought together representatives from credentialed health facilities nationwide. Participants were guided through the system to ensure smooth navigation and effective operation. Speaking at the event, Mr. Kaleo-Bioh highlighted that the biometric authentication system is part of NHIA’s broader vision to improve service delivery, strengthen verification processes, and promote transparency within the National Health Insurance Scheme.

Deputy Director of MIS, Mr. Orison Afflu, provided an overview of the system’s objectives and benefits, followed by a practical session led by NHIA’s technical partner, Magin’s Company, which offered step-by-step demonstrations for hands-on learning. Participants were encouraged to provide feedback and make submissions, which NHIA welcomed.

The Authority urged healthcare providers to take ownership of the system and fully integrate it into daily operations for maximum impact. This training underscores NHIA’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve healthcare delivery. By empowering providers with practical skills and knowledge, NHIA is strengthening efficiency, accountability, and the quality of healthcare services for citizens nationwide.
