NHIA Commends President Mahama for promise to uncap the NHIA 2025 Budget | 1/15/2025

The Management of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), and on behalf of the millions of Ghanaians who rely on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) for quality healthcare, wish to extend our profound gratitude to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana for fulfilling the promise to uncap the NHIA budget approved by Parliament annually.

This decisive action, announced at the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service held at the Ohene Konadu Auditorium, University of Professional Studies (UPSA), Accra, over the weekend, marks a significant turning point in the Scheme's history. By removing the budgetary cap, the government has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to strengthening Ghana’s healthcare system and ensuring sustainable funding for the NHIS.

This bold move will significantly impact the Scheme's growth and aspiration to attain Universal Health Coverage. It will enable the NHIA to expand coverage, settle claims promptly, improve service delivery, and ensure that every Ghanaian has access to quality and affordable healthcare regardless of socio-economic status.

The NHIA stands ready to collaborate with all stakeholders to maximize the benefits of this critical intervention for the collective good of our nation. Once again, we express our heartfelt appreciation to the President for this landmark decision. Together, we are building a healthier and more resilient Ghana. Thank you.
