The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) is considering a special medical insurance package for all staff to care for their health and general wellbeing.
The Chief Executive, Hon. Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye confirmed the package at a meeting with District Managers and Drivers of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the Greater Accra Region.
He added that other perks, like refresher courses and staff physical development, will be extended to boost morale and increase productivity.
He reassured staff that his administration will be more transparent and honest with staff to make them feel valued and respected, and thereby created a special WhatsApp platform to enable all staff always get his attention.
He emphasized the need for staff to put up their utmost best and increase the NHIS active membership to firm up Ghana’s forward march to attaining Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by the year 2030.
The NHIA Governing Board Chair, Dr. Ernest K. P Kwarko said the new Acting Chief Executive found himself in a unique position. According to him, the Chief Executive was devoted to achieving success in line with the nation's agenda for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by the year 2030.
He called for collective efforts saying, "Let's collectively work towards sustaining the NHIS to give all residents in Ghana the best healthcare.
Let's own this together and celebrate it together. We need a motivated staff to achieve the best results. As a Board, we will work in harmony with management to achieve success."
