National Health Insurance Authority Chief Executive, Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye has embarked on a significant visit to the Ashanti Regional Office, igniting enthusiasm among staff members about a comprehensive four-point vision aimed at revolutionizing operations and enhancing service delivery.
During the engaging interactions, the CEO unveiled several pivotal initiatives, primarily, the Expansion of the NHIS Benefit Package to include Promotive and Preventive health checks (Annual Health Checks) on the birthday /birth month of Ghanaians to include (i) Basic annual blood pressure and blood sugar checks, and Body Mass Index (BMI) checks (E.g. on the birthday of a member/person).(ii) Wellness workshops and educational seminars on topics such as nutrition, stress management, and physical activity.
Facilitating the registration and integration of NHIS and Ghana cards for 6.3 million children aged between six (6) and fourteen (14) years, Ending the practice of illegal charges (co-payments) demanded by healthcare facilities or providers of NHIS members, and operationalizing mandatory medical health insurance for all visitors to Ghana.
The CEO went on further to announce some enhanced Staff Welfare initiatives that reaffirm management's commitment to fostering a conducive work environment for employees to flourish.
Dr. Dacosta Aboagye also handed over a Toyota Hilux pickup from the Government of Ghana through the NHIA to the Acting Ashanti Regional Director Mr. Kwadwo Dwomoh.
This infusion of assets is poised to bolster operational efficiency within the region, with an emphasis on responsible usage and diligent maintenance.
Prior to these engagements, the Chief Executive participated in the Akwasidae event that was hosted by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace over the weekend where he paid homage to the King.
