The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in the
Central Region has announced a new public outreach initiative dubbed “NHIS
Evangelism Hour.” The initiative was revealed by the Acting Central Regional
Director, Mr. Kojo Koi Sekyere Thompson, during an interview at the ongoing
Central Expo 2025 in Cape Coast.
According to Mr. Thompson, the initiative is designed to
bring the Authority closer to the public through direct engagement.
“As a region, we will be doing something we call NHIS
Evangelism Hour. What we do is move into the communities, interact with people,
and support them to renew their cards,” he explained.
He added that the Central Expo provides a strategic platform
for the Authority to reach a wider audience, including corporate organizations
and exhibitors.
“This Expo is a great opportunity. We can collaborate with
exhibitors, market NHIS to them, and register their employees as part of our
institutional registration drive,” he said.
Mr. Thompson further noted that plans are underway to
sustain the initiative beyond the Expo by working closely with exhibitors and
linking them to their respective district offices for registration.
“We will continue to engage groups, whether by inviting them
to our stands or connecting them to local offices.
The goal is to ensure our
achievements reach everyone who needs to hear them,” he added.
The NHIS Evangelism Hour is expected to strengthen public
engagement, boost membership renewals, and raise awareness of the Scheme’s
mandate as the Authority advances its mission of achieving Universal Health
Coverage.
