The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Central
Regional Office, in collaboration with the Corporate Affairs Directorate’s
marketing team, extended its presence at the ongoing Central Expo 2025 in Cape
Coast with an intensive public education and sensitization campaign.
Away from the exhibition booth, the team moved through the
fairgrounds to interact directly with patrons, students and exhibitors,
explaining the NHIS benefit package, demonstrating digital renewal options
through the *929# short code and the MyNHIS App, and addressing concerns such
as illegal charges at health facilities.
Patrons welcomed the initiative, with many describing it as
timely and practical. Some expressed surprise at the ease of using the digital
platforms, while others were reassured by the opportunity to raise challenges
face-to-face with NHIA staff.
The NHIA Acting Central Regional Director, Mr. Kojo Thompson
explained that the outreach formed part of the Authority’s broader strategy to
deepen public awareness, strengthen confidence in the Scheme, and expand
membership as Ghana advances towards Universal Health Coverage.
