Staff of the National Health Insurance Authority in the
Central Region paused work, bowed heads, and gave thanks to God as part of
activities to mark the midyear. From Cape Coast to Dunkwa, Assin Fosu to
Winneba, all 14 districts of NHIA Central Region observed a synchronized “Day
of Thanksgiving and Prayer.”
The event was organized by the Regional Office as a way to
reflect on Q2 achievements, seek guidance for the rest of 2026, and appreciate
staff and key stakeholders.
At the Regional Office in Cape Coast, the program began with
worship, scripture reading, and prayers led by Pastor Benjamin Asare, the
Campus Pastor for the Pentecost Students and Associates (Pensa UCC).
Preaching a sermon from the anchor theme and scripture of
the program from 1 Thes 5:18, Pastor Asare reminded staff to always maintain a
posture of gratitude towards God in all circumstances.
‘When we decide to count
our Blessings, we would be spurred on to always give thanks to God knowing that
the Lord has done many great things for us regardless of life’s challenges. Our
gratitude to God should not necessarily come in the form of materials or items,
rather with the calves of our lips with a scripture reference from Hosea 14:2’.
Staff prayed for the health of scheme members, strength for
health workers, wisdom for leadership, and continued grace for the NHIS.
The Acting Regional Director,Mr Kojo Sekyere Koi Thompson
expressed gratitude to God for protection over the year so far and for the
progress made in renewals, registrations, and claims payments despite
challenges.
Across the districts, staff gathered at their offices for
similar services. At each location, District Managers read a thanksgiving
message and reminded staff that service to scheme members is service to
humanity.
“The NHIS exists because of God’s grace and the trust of
Ghanaians,” the Ag. Regional Director said during the Regional Office service.
“This Day of Thanksgiving is our way of acknowledging that every card issued,
every claim paid, and every life touched is a blessing we must not take for
granted.”
Citing Isaiah 40:31, Mr Thompson reminded all of God’s promise of
strength renewal for all who wait on Him.
‘Let me take this moment to assure you that Our strength
will be renewed after this service by God and this renewed energy will help the
region chalk great successes by the end of the year, He ended.
The event also created space for staff to intercede for
scheme members battling illness, for hospitals and CHPS compounds, and for
national leadership.
It ended with shared refreshments and a commitment to
rededicate service to the people of the Central Region.
Staff described the day as refreshing. “It reminded us why
we do this work,” one officer said. “Beyond targets and reports, we’re serving
people’s health.”
For NHIA Central Region, July 1 wasn’t just the midpoint of
the year. It was a moment to look back with gratitude and look ahead with faith
as the Authority continues its mission of making healthcare accessible to all.
