The Ag. Director for
Membership and Regional Operations Mr. Sabastian Alagpulinsa and his team
from the head office
today met with some selected staff of the seven district offices including the
district managers and
their PROs at the Bono East Regional Office.
His mission was simply
to interact with staff, discuss with them the region’s membership
performance, the key
challenges as well as the way forward.
Welcoming the Ag.
Director MRO into the region, the Principal Manager Mr. Kenneth Zagre who
stood in for the Ag.
Regional Director for the region underscored the importance of the meeting as
that will pave way for
Mr. Sabastian Alagpulinsa to have a firsthand information about the efforts by
the Bono East region
in working towards the achievement of Universal Health Coverage (UHC), the
challenges the region
faces in our membership performance etc.
On his part, the Ag.
Director, MRO praised the region for their general performance in membership,
particularly,
Techiman, Kintampo North and South for having achieved UHC as of November,
2025.
He was of very
optimistic that UHC could be achieved by the end the year 2026 instead of 2030
as envisaged by the UN.
Having achieved 65% as
at now, Mr. Alagpulinsa cannot fathom how the 80% coverage cannot be
achieved by the end
2026.
He therefore tasked
the region to put in all efforts to work assiduously towards the attainment of
the UHC before the end
of 2026. He equally lauded the ‘’STORM THE MARKET’’ program and the waiver
recently held in across the country which yielded massive results in our
membership drive.
He therefore
reiterated his quest in convincing the executive management of the Authority in
having
two each of such
programs next year as well as the automatic renewal which cumulatively, will
helpin attaining Ghana’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
Turning to his
presentation which was very interactive, the MRO Ag. Director took staff
through the membership performance by the various districts, praising those who
have achieved their UHC andstill urged them to do more. He then asked them to
share the secrets of their performance for the underperforming districts to
learn from.
The Ag. Director then
admonished the underperforming districts to up their game as ‘’there will be no
room for any excuses’’ for their performance come next year with the strategies
being put in
place.
Though he acknowledged
the challenges and the difficulties confronting certain districts especially
Sene, there is still a
room for improvement and therefore challenged them to put in all their best
forthe realization of the UHC by the end of next year.
The underperforming
district managers and their staff had the chance to put across the key
challenges such as
network, inadequate staff, inaccessibility to the hinterlands, lack of
transport etc.
They then channeled
their request through the Ag. MRO Director to the executive management to
get these problems
solved in the interest of attaining the UHC by the end of 2026.
The assurance from the
MRO Ag. Director was affirmative.
