NHIS MOBILE RENEWAL SERVICE; MORE MEMBERS ENROLL|2/27/2019

A survey conducted by the National Health Insurance Authority has shown that more NHIS members within the Techiman Municipality in the Bono East Region renewed their membership with the scheme using the mobile phone in the month of January 2019 after the introduction of the new innovation.

 

Techiman Municipality tops the chart with 276 renewals per day culminating into 8,299 renewals in January alone. This means more people in the region are renewing their membership through the use of NHIS Mobile Renewal Service which is a good sign and has the potential to limit the long queues in NHIS District offices.

 

The Obuasi Municipal Assembly followed as the second highest number of members that patronize the Mobile Renewal Service. A total number of 6,292 members renew via their mobile phones in January 2019 with daily record of 209 renewals.   

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) on 19th December last year launched this new platform to allow members of the Scheme to renew their membership at their convenience by the use of mobile phones.

 

The system works efficiently with mobile money banking platform that allows clients to make appropriate payments to renew their membership.This initiative is the beginning of a total digitalization of the system for enrolling new members unto the NHIS.   The short code for the mobile renewal is *929#
