NHIA organizes workshop on co creation |3/10/2020

Development partners and stakeholders in the health sector have attended a two-day workshop on co-creation in Accra, organized by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in line with strategies mapped out to attaining Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

The workshop considered opportunities required to optimize data use and analytics for decision-making within the NHIA and across the available health data systems in Ghana.

These include the NHIA data management systems (claims, credentialing, membership), the District Health Information Management System (DHIMS II), accreditation systems from the Health Facilities Regulatory Authority (HeFRA) and other relevant data systems.

In attendance were about 40 participants including the NHIA Chief Executive Officer and her Deputies, the NHIA Board Chair, Board Members, Directors, officials from the Ministry of Health and HEFRA.

Others came from the World Bank, World Health Organization (WHO), JICA, KOFIH Ghana, KOICA, DFID, CHAG, R4D, PharmAccess Ghana, Alliance for Reproductive Health, Private Medical & Dental Practitioners, Korle-bu Teaching hospital and Peki Government Hospital.

The participants brainstormed on strategies essential for the NHIA to be a data-driven insurer implementing an effective and efficient mix of provider payment methods.

This is expected to boost the NHIA’s status as Ghana’s lead vehicle to attain the UHC 2030 agenda. Source: ABDUL KARIM NAATOGMAH
