NHIA CEO endorses Cervical Cancer Awareness|1/21/2020

The Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, Dr. Lydia Dsane-Selby today joined Daniel Dadzie, Host of JOFM Super Morning Show to discuss the Cervical Cancer Awareness Month 2020.During the interview, she urged Ghanaians to change their mindset of seeking health care in line with the objective of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

 “We have to take a second look at cervical cancer. It is on the package but it is not being utilized. There should be no woman who is over 40 years in this country that should not have a pap smear.


”She assured Ghanaians that the NHIA would soon pay upfront money to competent service providers for a package of services that could include screening and would `monitor to ensure that it is done professionally.She reminded Ghanaians that NHIS Membership is mandatory and added that soon people will be able to use the Ghana Card to register and access the Schemes’ services.


Dr. Lydia Dsane-Selby encouraged NHIS members to continually renew their membership using the dedicated short Code *929#, Mobile Renewal Service.According to her, the Authority will soon send biometric machines to some service providers to crackdown attempts to cause financial leakages to the NHIS.The NHIA Boss unreservedly apologized to NHIS members who somewhat were dissatisfied with the conduct of some officers at the District offices.




Ending the year 2019, Dr. Selby met the Press and highlighted the importance of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Mobile Renewal Service.This was in celebration of the first anniversary of the multiple awards winning Mobile Renewal Service.The meeting sought to project the right image and reputation of the NHIA and the entire nation as the first destination of attaining Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by 2030.It also offered the media the opportunity to ask questions and share ideas with the NHIA to enable management design a road map towards leveraging the achievements made so far.

Present at the meeting were Directors, Deputy Directors, Managers and some staff of the NHIA, Head office.The NHIA CEO urged the participants to spark a nationwide conversation on the impact of the NHIS and the need for all residents in Ghana to be active members. Dr. Selby encouraged all members to be part of the accountability of the NHIS by responding to the messages they receive regarding attendance at facilities.
