CAF team embark on a working visit within Greater Accra. |10/23/2018

The Communication Unit and Provider & Clients Relations unit of the National Health Insurance Authority have embarked on a working visit to some NHIS accredited facilities within the Weija catchment area.

The visit was to address issues of illegal payment by hospitals which continues to be a worry for the Authority.Illegal payment is a situation where an NHIS accredited Health Facility request members or patients to pay for medicines or services that are covered under the scheme.

The team visited the Faith Mission Clinic in Buabiashi to follow up on reports of illegal payments in that hospital. For some time now the Authority has been hit with several complaints by members who say that the hospitals they visit for healthcare charge them exorbitant fee even though they hold valid NHIS membership card.

The situation has made life quite unbearable for them.  In the light of this, the NHIS team will undertake several of such exercises to check activities of these health facilities and ensure strict punitive measures are meted out to them.

The NHIA is poised to provide quality healthcare to all its members and will not relent on its efforts in ensuring its stakeholders abide by the rules and regulations of the scheme.
